    Where is the my.cnf file?

    I have several versions, so which one is the one that matters?

    /etc/my.cnf
    /root/.my.cnf
    /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/my.cnf

    Thanks,

    -Alon.

    The main one for your public MySQL is /etc/my.cnf.

    public?
    Do I have a private one?

    Well... I do see something weired:

    /home/virtfs/user1/etc/my.cnf
    /home/virtfs/user2/etc/my.cnf
    /home/virtfs/user3/etc/my.cnf
    /home/virtfs/user4/etc/my.cnf
    /home/virtfs/user5/etc/my.cnf

    And.. I have the
    /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/my.cnf

    So what is the function of each one of those as well as the one in the

    /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/my.cnf ?

    Also, if I want to tweak it.. right now it shows:

    PROMPT> less /etc/my.cnf
    [mysqld]
    set-variable = max_connections=500
    safe-show-database

    set-variable = long_query_time=2
    log-long-format
    log-slow-queries = /var/lib/mysql/slow_queries.log
    key_buffer = 256M
    max_allowed_packet = 1M
    table_cache = 256
    sort_buffer_size = 1M
    read_buffer_size = 1M
    myisam_sort_buffer_size = 64M
    thread_cache = 8
    query_cache_size= 16M
    # Try number of CPU's*2 for thread_concurrency
    thread_concurrency = 4

    Are there any special values you would encourage to increase?
    I have 1GB of RAM
