    This cron entry runs fine at the command prompt, but will not run in crontab

    0,5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55 * * * * root cd /sites/wild/public_html/cgi-bin && ./mstats.pl >/sites/wild/public_html/email.html

    any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jason.

    Very weird...... I logged in to implement your suggestion, and my cron job is running. Why might it take so long for it to get going? I would think that if I configured it to run every minute, I would see it start in a few minutes....Not after waiting 12 hours.....

    Did you manually edit the crontab file? If so, did you restart crond afterwards? Changes don't take effect until after it is restarted.

    Yes, I did.

    But while tailing the cron log, I saw that crond did see the change and restart itself. But it still took a while. No problem, it's running now and I have confirmed with several other tests, that new cron entries take about 45 minutes to get going.

    Thanks.
