Ive been told by Fantastico support that i need to update MySQL to 4.1.11 however on the current R release it only allows me to update to MySQL 4.1.10a (which im already at)

On 2 of our centos 3.4 servers i cant update past 4.1.8 as there is no rpm's for any newer in the mirrors list.

    am i missing something?

How can force it to update?

Are you trying to upgrade with yum or with the cpanel script? Like you said, the rpms aren't available on the centos mirrors, but if you run /scripts/mysqlup then it will get the latest rpms available from cpanel, which are currently for 4.1.11.

well on the Centos servers yes it looks like its running thru yum however i am running /scripts/sysup

ive also tried /scripts/mysqlup and its telling me that 4.1.10a is the latest

Im using CPanel 10.1.0 R30 on all our servers and none of them are upping past 4.1.10a

You need to update the mysqlup script to be the latest:
    /scripts/updatenow (or recommeded /scripts/upcp )
    then run /scripts/mysqlup

i had no problems with upgrading mysql on centos.

    root@eclipse [~]# mysql -V
    mysql Ver 14.7 Distrib 4.1.11, for pc-linux-gnu (i686)
    root@eclipse [~]# uname -a
    Linux eclipse.crystalcore.nl 2.4.21-27.0.2.EL #1 Wed Jan 19 03:17:10 GMT 2005 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
    root@eclipse [~]# cat /etc/redhat-release

Must be a cPanel build-related issue then. We're running the latest RELEASE build and we only get the 4.1.10a installer:

    /scripts/mysqlup
    MySQL Setup Script Version 6.0
Fetching version information from http://updates.cpanel.net/mysqlinstall/version (RELEASE)....Done
This is the MySQL 4.1.10a installer release number 0 for platform
    MySQL-shared is out of date (MySQL-shared-4.1.8-0 != MySQL-shared-4.1.10a-0)

You can always install the RPMs manually, which I did in the past. Download the RPMs from http://dev.mysql.com and stop chkservd and mysql and run rpm -Uvh MySQL-*.rpm in the directory you downloaded the RPMs to. Re-start the 2 services and you're set.

Well i have just updated our Centos servers to WHM 10.1.0 cPanel 10.1.0-R78 and have run:

    /scripts/sysup
    /scripts/updatenow
    /scripts/upcp --force
/scripts/mysqlup and still the mysql installer is hsowing:

our RH9, FC2 and RHE servers all upgraded smoothly however...

    http://updates.cpanel.net/mysqlinstall/version shows:

so it would seem that despite the R being newer than the latest C version its still loading the old mysql.

Ive downgraded back to C and then run mysqlup and then upgraded back to R and its worked...

talk about a lot of muckign around however...

Only current, beta and edge in Linux 32bit are able to retrieve 4.1.11.

Stable and release are still getting 4.1.10a.

If you really want 4.1.11, change to edge and then run /scripts/mysqlup.

    ok... figured it out...

basically... this is for CentOS... update your yum.conf to one with working mirrors... then you have to delete /root/.cpmysqlrpm/mirrors.failed (i forgot the exact name)... then re-run /scripts/mysqlup

go here and follow instructions on getting the latest yum.conf (wget it, don't copy and paste, you'll get errors)
    http://www.versaweb.net/forums/showthread.php?p=484#post484

    ok.. so here the steps:

    1. update yum.conf

    Code:

    cd /etc
    mv yum.conf yum.conf.original
    wget http://www.versaweb.net/scripts/general/yum.conf
    chmod 644 yum.conf
    rpm --import http://mirrors.versaweb.net/cAos/centos/RPM-GPG-KEY-CentOS-3

    2. remove failed mirrors list (it's probably spelled differently)

    Code:

    rm -rf /root/.cpmysqlrpm/mirrors.failed
    rm -rf /root/.cpmysqlrpm/pingtimes/*

    3. add these mirrors to mirrors.lst (i got em from a RHE3 server)

    Code:

    vi /root/.cpmysqlrpm/mirrors.lst

    4. in WHM.... Server Setup --> Update Config

select "Manual Updates Only (bleeding EDGE tree)"

**this is CURRENTLY only necessary for the WHM 10.1.0 cPanel 10.2.0-S83 running on CentOS, because anything other than that will only allow you to update to an OLDER mysql 4.1.10a **

NOTE: you set this ONLY to run /scripts/mysqlup then you set it back to normal after it's done... (STABLE is what we use)

    5.

    Code:

    /scripts/mysqlup

    6. when done... go back to WHM and set "Server Setup --> Update Config" back to your normal settings

    and, that should do it....
