    Im suprised that people are still following the 4x tree of MySQL - most people seem to be on 5 or planning to move to 5 very shortly.

    IMHO, Cpanel should be concentrating their efforts on ensuring that 5.0.24 and onwards are integrated into the current build quicker than the 4 tree.

    On old production systems it is not easy to upgrade the version. We have to use 4.1.x on these system to ensure the stablility. But we are installing 5.x on the new systems.

    Indeed. There are some major incompatibilities between the two versions. Web servers should be stable things and v5 hasn't been stable for all that long (months). If the application developers understood the concept of backwards compatibility (php anyone?) it would help a great deal.
