MySQL Install

1) Wget the files and stop mysql

2) Install em,

rpm -Uvh MySQL-bench-4.1.8-0.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh MySQL-client-4.1.8-0.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh MySQL-devel-4.1.8-0.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh MySQL-server-4.1.8-0.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh MySQL-shared-4.1.8-0.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh MySQL-shared-compat-4.1.8-0.i386.rpm

3) logout and log back in ALSO DO NOT LET ANYONE RESTART APACHE (that includes no acct creations)

Dont bother recompiling apache, it'll complain about missing. Just symlink it to

4) Once its done sit back and enjoy!

NOTE: I learnt the hard way, installed it thinking its all working blahblah, then when i get back home the following afternoon i notice apache doesnt start cause of a damn libmysqlclient thing.

Have fun with this,

(If you screw it up dont come bitching to me)

EDIT: When you do upcp it will not overwrite your rpms, it'll just say:

Using Mysql4
