I see MySQL 5.6 is near its end of life cycle.

I'm looking for some feedback as to if I should switch to MariaDB 10.2 or just upgrade to MySQL 5.7

Are there any disadvantages of switching to MariaDB instead of MySQL?

Did anyone have any major issues after switching to MariaDB?

Mariadb is generating a higher sql query in some databases, mysql 5.7 is always more stable. I haven't updated my servers to mariadb, I'm very happy.

Note: This is my personal experience.

    Absolutely true!
MariaDB makes 2-4x much load compared to Mysql.
I really regret "upgraded" to MariaDB.
    DONT do it!
