How large is the database and how much free space is on the account?

All the accounts are with enough space (all normal) only in the hour of back up of the error

i don't know if that is how it supposed to work but, you need to login as client... reseller or root cannot make database backups for clients.

Actually, a reseller can do this via the cPanel interface. They just need to login to each account via the drop-down box and proceed to generate/download the backups. I did this myself last week on a cPanel 11 box running STABLE.

We noticed the same issue. When a customer is trying to download a backup of his database through cPanel --> backups, he just gets a 0 KB *.sql.gz file.
Enough space, so that couldn't be the problem. Making the dump with help of phpMyAdmin, he gets the complete database.

Spoke with QA and we believe the best course of action is that anyone experiencing this issue please submit a support ticket directly to cPanel.

Now this is really odd. I have two servers, one with FC2, the other with CentOS 5. Both are running WHM 11.11.0 cPanel 11.16.0-R18450. On the FC2 server, I can log into a client cPanel via List Accounts in WHM and download a database as always. On the CentOS server it downloads 0k as described here.

I came withing about 30 seconds of making a real mess because I thought I had downloaded a backup before doing something tricky to the db, but checked just to make sure I had downloaded a good copy. If I hadn't, since there is no warning, I would have been in big trouble :(

Is this still an unknown? Should I submit a bug report? I noticed this thread is a couple months old. Otherwise, any idea why it works on one but not the other?

Just tried this on our CentOS 4.5 based box and we get the same 0k empty download if we go into the client cPanel via List Accounts. If we log into cPanel directly as a client and do the download then it's fine - which suggests a MySQL permissions issue perhaps?

There will be a note added saying that you cannot backup a mysql database as a reseller.
