mysql backup problems

Does anyone else have a problem with customers cpanel not being able to restore an sql backup from their control panel ,i tried on 3 servers with different skins but the customers always get the following error.

ERROR 1044: Access denied for user: \user@localhost\

make sure you have a root mysql password set.

the root password is set ,it seems to be only one customer who gets the error ,the only thing i think is different about this customer to all the rest is the account and sql where imported from another server
so i`m guessing it`s a permission problem because of the transfer but dont know how to fix it
