I changed an account username from a to b.
I then edited the names of the mysqk databases in /var/lib the mysql databases now show up in the users phpmyadmin when he logs in under the new username but there are no tables in them. Is there a config file or do I have to change some permissions so that they show up under this different username?

    Check your mysql database.

Merely changing the database names, does not allow privs to the new user if the new username isn't granted access.

Unless you are familiar with mysql shell commands, your best bet would be to use phpmyadmin via WHM.

In the mysql database, you would edit all records for that user in the user table and db table to reflect the new user name.
