I have a customer who wishes to use the des_encrypt function of mysql..

I have zero experience with it but have checked out..

    http://www.mysql.com/doc/M/i/Miscellaneous_functions.html
    http://www.mysql.com/doc/S/e/Secure_connections.html

if this is made available [doesn't appear to be now] then will cpanel updates undo it, therefore making it a waste of time??

I believe that the encryption is weak, but the customer is always right..

    :)
