    On friday night after the cpanel updates mysql and exim is down :( ... I cant get them to restart. I have contacted my data center about the issue and they just have no clue what is going on... when i got to restart mysql this is the error i am getting...

    /usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)' Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' exists! mysql has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "mysql has failed").

    anyone know how to get this resolved... I havent had mysql working all weekend and my box has been worthless at this time :(

    I would do what it says

    check for the existance of /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock if its not there create it

    and sys link it to /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock

    then restart mysql

    have you tried reinstalling mysql
    /scripts/mysqlup --force
    /scripts/perlinstaller --force Bundle::DBD::mysql

    have you receintly updated mysql from 4.0 to 4.1 ???

    the holder of your cpanel license should be your first support channel if they cant resolve then they should open a ticket on your behalf

    If your data center does not provide that kind of support

    and you have tried the various fixes on the forums
    you may need to hire a server admin fix it for you

    I would be hapy to take a look

    Your datacenter should be more helpful .... Anyway if you are not able to get it working, you can hire someone who might be able to help you .... PM if you need me to have a check..
