Check your mysql process list, first off.....

    mysqladmin -p processlist

(it will prompt you for the root MYSQL password)
after that it will show you the process tree in the mysql daemon, and you'll more than likely see a billion open (though sleeping) threads for a particular sloppy or overzealous user that you'll want to boot off your box, or encourage them to revamp their application.
    :p

Note that XMB has major mySQL problems.
