    Hi there,

I have been dealing with this issue for a while. I have been using a free ware program to beable to access my sites and thier databases through ssh tunneling.

The freeware is about to expire and I want to write my own software to do what I have been doing with the freeware. My issue I can not connect directly to the mysql server.

I own the server and it is colocated so there is no issue with permissions by the hosting provider as I own the server.

HOW DO I ACCESS MYSQL SERVER OUTSIDE OF LOCALHOST?

    Thanks,
    Shawn Mulligan

Port 3306 at your server is the connection point for MySQL

You need to also program the MySQL on your server to allow the connection

(Note: I don't personally recommend external usage of MySQL across the
internet encrypted or not because it can cause very serious latency and
    performance problems for your server)

    Greetings,

If this is regarding a database attached to a single cPanel user account, you can add IPs by clicking on the "MySQL" icon in cPanel 10 and where it says "Access Hosts" enter the IP address you want to permit (using % as a wildcard like you would in a SQL statement).

In cPanel 11, the procedure is slightly different. You just go click on the "Remote MySQL" icon in the "Databases" section of the cPanel interface.
