All mysql users are getting premission denied errors when try try to use mysql including root. I tried to reset the root pass but it didn't work. Running mysql from the shell works though. ANy suggestions?

Its when we try to access it using phpmyadmin or another PHP script. We get Premission Denied from phpmyadmin. For the scripts we get the access denied for user etc. message.
