Hi, I'm new to cpanel and I was wondering if there is any documentation anywhere, or if anyone could tell me what MySql security is set up out of the box. For example does the default setup allow for outside connections to it? How does it handle connecting to remote mysql servers?

By default, MySQL accepts connections from localhost only. But you can add allowed hosts in cPanel (end-user).

You'll also need to make sure the TCP port is open in your firewall 3306
