I just upgraded MySQL from 4.0.22 to 4.0.24 via /scripts/mysqlup. However, phpinfo() is still showing 4.0.22. The upgrade apparently was successful, I restarted MySQL, and phpMyAdmin is showing 4.0.24. It's just that phpinfo() is showing 4.0.22. I've restarted Firefox a couple times, refreshed the window, even pulled it up in IE - it's still showing 4.0.22. What's going on?

when u used mysqlup, you upgraded mysql server/client and not the php-mysql. to upgrade that you need to recompile php.
