    First, find the mysql.sock file. In most cases it's located in /tmp.

    Try creating a symlink pointing to /tmp/mysql.sock:
    Code:
    ln -s /tmp/mysql.sock /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
    Should work.

    Or.... you could edit MySQL config file (/etc/my.cnf) and change line:
    Code:
    socket = /tmp/mysql.sock
    to
    Code:
    socket = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock

    this is a reported bug in cpanel I do belive

    just restart mysql again will usally cure it or better yet just avoid cpanel's restart scripts all together

    service mysql restart from the comand line
