Mysql Unicode Corrupted

Hello,

I was using mysql 4.0.x and recently i upgraded mysql to 4.1.x

Previously on one of my client's database used to store the unicode characters in its table and those characters were properly fetched and displayed in website by php. After I upgraded the mysql those unicode character suddenly corrupted and now showing some weired characters. How do i recover from this?
