Do you see any errors in mysql logs or during starting of mysql service? A close look at it will help to correct the issue. A mysql upgrade should not cause any problems.

    Hello :)

Downgrading MySQL is not supported. What specific error messages do you see on your websites?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

After upgrading Mysql, please make sure that you have compiled Apache+PHP+Mysql using Easyapache.
You can perform it through WHM after Mysql upgradation or manually on shell by running /script/easyapache.

    Thanks,

    Hey,

Check the mysqld.log file? See what errors are returned and give that to us.

If all else fails I advise restore a backup of OS partition.
