Hey. I received one of those mysql.sock issues to. I have spent around 16 hours trying to fix it and now I think I have done more damage using the fixes posted than actually fixing it.

Anyway I need to reinstall mysql, i think. so I do a
    #/scripts/mysqup --force
    Code:
    http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/updates/i386/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-3, 'Temporary failure in name resolution')>
    Trying other mirror.
Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: update
failure: repodata/repomd.xml from update: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
Error: failure: repodata/repomd.xml from update: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
    Setting up Install Process
    Setting up repositories
It freezes on setting up the repositories?

    What should I do.
