One day on CPanel the FTP account mysteriously appeared on the account.

There are currently no active ftp accounts.
When logging into the ftp server please use the username exactly as it appears below. If the username includes a "@", make sure to include it when logging in. Example: Use "john@doe.org" and not "john".
    RCBXuPgw/b4jlq5Uz1@xxxxxx-xxxxx.com (/bin/ftpsh)

The domain name is masked for security.

I am unable to delete the account. Does anyone have any ideas where this could have come from, or which files I need to delete to get rid of this account?

I have the same problem on one account.

Any ideas how to fix it?

This simply means there is a corrupt line in the /etc/proftpd/username file. The easiest way to correct this is root shell in and remove the corrupt lines or simply recreate the file. Short of that I am not sure any other way to correct this.
