named will not start

    I tried many diff ways to fix this but nothing works. y try named restart and this is what I get.

    It happened after I rebooted my server. Pls someone help

    root@server3 [/]# /sbin/service named restart
    Shutting down named: [FAILED]
    Starting named: execvp: No such file or directory
    [FAILED]

    What's in /var/log/messages when you try to start named?

    /etc/named.conf:863: zone '': is not a valid name

    Looks like your named.conf file has a bad zone or is corrupt. You will need to go through the file and look for the bad entry.

    how do I know which is the incoorect entry?

    YIPPIE thanks I fixed it it had this.

    zone "67." {
    type master;
    file "/var/named/67..db";
    };

    zone "" {
    type master;
    file "/var/named/.db";
    };

    any of those suppose to stay there or not? anyone knows

    Neither one makes sense. although the "67." one might be related to reverse DNS entry. If your DNS server works ok, why fix it?
