Is there a way that I can setup a domain on my server / nameserver that instead of resolving to an IP on my server will resolve to the IP of my home ADSL connection for remote access ?

So if I register www.myhome.net (or whatever) it would then resolve to whatever my current home adsl IP maybe ..

Then if thats possible I would need to integrate it with a ddns client to update the server whenever my home IP (which is dynamic) changes ...

    Hello,

I do see what you are trying to do, however it would not be something we would support directly. Keeping that in mind, you can visit DynDNS.com: Free DNS Hosting, E-mail Delivery, and VPS Hosting, and there should be some good information on there on how to achieve what you are trying to do. Also it may depend on the hardware and restrictions by your ISP. Some may block such connections so you may want to check with them as well.

    Thank you,
    Matthew Curry

Please note that since cPanel/WHM is designed for commercial web hosting companies, cPanel/WHM licensing is performed on the basis of IP address.

However, if you do not have a publicly visible static IP address, you will not be able to run a cPanel/WHM server. You may want to contact your ISP about acquiring a static IP address if you intend to run a cPanel/WHM server from home.

Thanks for the info, I do have a 'public website' on a VPS running cpanel and am happy with the way it's working. I was just woundering if I could use the existing namerservers there to access my home network (not as a public server) while at work / travelling etc.
