We are a small hosting company using cPanel 11. Our primary DNS server is using the shared server IP of our main server. If someone enters ns1.domain.com into a browser the first website that is defined in httpd.conf, which is a client's web site, displays. This is obviously not good behavior.

I tried moving our main business web site to the first position in httpd.conf, and I tried to make it stick with cPanel 11s apache_conf_distiller --update and build_apache_conf, but our site still ends up at the bottom and nothing changes. Is there another workaround to this problem?

    Thanks!

I have the exact same problem.
I have a dedicated server with the nameserver and website on the same IP. when i access the nameserver (DNS) URL in my browser it serves the index.html page of the website.

As I understand, nameservers should not respond to HTTP requests.

How can I stop HTTP communication for the nameserver, or at least, how can I make it serve the default apache server web page when accessed via browser?

    thanks!
