    Hi there,

This is not about cPanel itself but about DNS configuration with each I have headache.

Maybe someone can help me. Here you go:

    - I've got one box on which I have domain name xyzdomain.com and it's hosting nameservers ns1.xyzdomain.com and ns2.xyzdomain.com

    - now, I bought another box (different noc) where I wnat to use these nameservers ns3.xyzdomain.com and ns4.xyzdomain.com

How will I go about this? Since ns3 and ns4 will have different IP addresses:
    - should I add ns3 and ns4 entries to the DNS zone file hosted on box 1 (where zone for xyzdomain.com lives)?

    or

    - should I create ns3 and ns4 zone files on 2nd box?

    or any other option?

    Your help will be appritiated.

    Regards,

    M. Cretu

    Hi thaphantom,

Thanks for the answer. Got one more.

    - I will add ns3 and ns4 enteries to box 1
    - then, what should I do about them on box 2? Should I create the entries ns3 and ns4 over there as well? If yes, how they will suppose to look like.

I understand that ns3 and ns4 should be hosted on box 2 - am I right?

    Thanks for help

    Hi,

Again, thanks for help. I not planning to turn box 2 into slave. But, is there advantage to it? What would be the most proper way to go about ns's?

    Thank you for your input.

    H thanks,

I've decided to turn the other box 2 into slave and it works without any problems now.

One question still; should I have my domain names on box 2 to be resolving to ns3/ns4 or ns1/ns2 it does not make any difference? ... since I was able to get one domain working with ns1/ns2 but account was on box 2.

Also, what will happen when box 1 dies. Will box 2 still work with accounts on it?

    Thanks again!
