Need help configuring DNS Zone for mail

First post here!

I have a dedicated server and set up 2 domains successfully. I used the following configuration in the DNS Zone for the email:

domainname.com. 144000 IN MX mail.domainname.com.
mail 140000 IN A 111.111.111.111

When I went to set up my next domain the default is:

domainname.com. 144000 IN MX mail.domainname.com.
mail 140000 IN CNAME mail.domainname.com.

The problem happens when I change the CNAME to A 111.111.111.111 it give me the following error message:
Invalid Data A:

I have 4 different IP's and have tried it on the main shared IP the one of the domains is working on and an IP not used but I still keep getting this error.

Using WHM 11.34.1 Build 11 and CENTOS 6.3 64 bit standard

Any suggestions?

Thanks quietFinn, that was the fix! After clicking on the compatibility mode view and trying again I was able to change the CNAME to A without the error. I am using IE 10.
