For some reason the installer did not install exim for me automatically. I followed the directions at http://www.cpanel.net.

What I ended up doing was to install exim by hand. I downloaded a source RPM file and rebuilt it. After I installed exim I ran /scripts/upcp and it detected exim for me and set up the configuration file, etc. Very cool. Anyhow, now it's working just fine. I hope this helps someone later.
