Apparently I've got a BNC residing on my system somewhere and it is regularly dragging my system to its knees.

How can I locate and remove this from my server?

If it is indeed there, it is masking its presence somehow perhaps with a hidden PID or dislocated system file. However, scans with chkrootkit and background process killer find nothing.

    Install TCPdump
Check for heavy usage of a certian port other than the standard ones, (will probably be the bnc)

It should only be in the home dir somewhere unless you've been hacked..

Firewall off the port.. Should stop the usuage of the bnc even if you can't find it?
