    Hello
we have recently upgraded our mysql to 5.1 through WHM auto update.
Our websites have stopped functioning at some parts, we believe it to be because of the following

    WHM shows mysql version 5.1
    Cpanel shows mysql version 4.1

Why didnt the cpanel version performed the update, or what might have went wrong?

someone help me how to do that

    I'd try

    /scripts/upcp --force

    then

/scripts/mysqlup again , and see if that helps resolve the problem. Some logs would be helpful

    Hello :)

Do you notice any failures when attempting to update MySQL via the command line? You can attempt this via:

    Code:
    # /scripts/mysqlup
If not, please consider opening a support ticket for this issue so we may check further:

    Thank you.

You are likely just cached for the cPanel account:

    Code:
    cd /home/username/.cpanel
    mv mv datastore datastore.bak
Then re-log into cPanel and it should show the correct MySQL version at that point.

Now, the issue isn't likely that cPanel is reporting the wrong version, since it was likely just a cache. If the sites are experiencing an issue, it is more likely you have some error in your /etc/my.cnf configuration due to differences between MySQL 4.1 and MySQL 5.1 or that some tables didn't properly convert on some accounts.

First, what is the error message you are receiving on some of the sites that aren't working? If you aren't seeing any error in a browser, what is happening in the browser to show it isn't properly working? Are you seeing any errors logged to /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log location?

Next, are you seeing errors in /var/lib/mysql/hostname.err log location where hostname is the server's full hostname. If you aren't certain the name of the error log for MySQL, try grabbing a list of any files named .err in /var/lib/mysql to find it:

    Code:
    ls -lah /var/lib/mysql/*.err
Tail the log on viewing the site to see any errors that might be outputting:

    Code:
    tail -fn0 /var/lib/mysql/hostname.err

This is the error for a site in a browser as well? Or, it is simply the PhpMyAdmin area that isn't working?

Can you connect to MySQL in command line in root SSH?

    Code:
    mysql

We can help with input on what you receive for the error, but if you are not able to run shell commands after logging in as root in SSH, then I would highly suggest hiring someone to assist with it:

Dev & Sys Admin Services « Application Catalog
