All of the sudden, SSL stopped working on two of my servers. One of them is where our site is and we can't process orders because of this. I have tried everything, but nothing seems to help. The proper entry is in the httpd.conf file and apache does work, but SSL does not.

I get an error on one of the servers when starting apache:
    root@server17 [/home/admin]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start
    [Wed Mar 13 21:05:51 2002] [info] mod_ssl:Compat: MAPPED 'SSLEnable' =& 'SSLEngine on'
    [Wed Mar 13 21:05:51 2002] [info] mod_ssl:Compat: MAPPED 'SSLLogFile /var/log/www.pronicsolutions.com' =& 'SSLLog /var/log/www.pronicsolutions.com'
    /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start: httpd started

Your help is very much appreciated!

    Did you run buildapache recently?

What else is in error_log pertaining to SSL?
what happens when you do &httpd startssl& from the command line? Fails ?

Was openSSL reinstalled recently for any reason?
You might want to /scripts/sysup and then restart apache for the hell of it in case that rpm got wax'd

    .... ?

No, it does not fail, it just show the message above.

    No.

    in /usr/local/apache/logs

Are there any more SSL-specific logs, just pertaining to the SSL part of the apache engine? There should be if you are getting errors like this......

    Thanks feanor,

You are really the coolest guy on these boards :)

It is up and running. You won't believe it, but it was the access list on the router that got screwed up and was blocking port 443.

Sorry to bother you for nothing :)

Whenever anyone begins to get stumped its always the network admin's fault in the end, with these machines...... everything else has been solved, or is solvable by something in /script

    ;)

no problem have a great night.
