neomail.pl process does not die when account hit their disk quota, this causes a high load to displayed on the server (although cpu usage is relatively low)

    Hi,
In the last 2 weeks we have seen this on a few occasions.

Users hit there quota and when they try to use neomail loads shoot up and neomail consumes a lot of cpu resources.

Quick fix, increase quota on the account affected.

    Regards
    Mark

a quicker fix is to delete the users spare files in tmp and /mail, however this is not viable when running the number or types of servers we do, a better fix would be for cpanel to correct the problem.

    *bump*

Still it seams this problem has not been solved. Today I found our server with a load over 20(!!!) with 10 neomail.pl's running.

same here , it happens to a few users but neomail.pl process will use 99.9 % of cpu all the time and it will make server load.

I think when the user already log out , it stills stay in the process.

    Cpanel should fix this quick.

    Regards,
    George

    P.S. I use fedora Core 2

Does anyone know if this issue has been fixed?

i have a customer experiencing the exact same problems, HOWEVER their quota is fine (they have 150mb free). Their Neomail process takes up 100%, even if I kill it off, it happens again as soon as I attempt to login to their Neomail. I ran upcp to no avail. Tmp partition has plenty of free space. Other customers neomail is working fine.

EDIT: I was able to fix this particular problem by renaming the clients .neomail folder to .neomail.out and re-running neomail through the CP.

I had one today too, keeping appr 15 neomail pid open. Raised the limit but that's no fix, is it.

    Just to be complete:

upgrading to WHM 9.9.9 cPanel 9.9.9-S15 didn't help.

    edit:
    /scripts/fixwebmail gives:

chown: cannot access `/usr/local/etc/cpanel/base/webmail/data': No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `/usr/local/etc/cpanel/base/webmail/data': No such file or directory

    It gets even better,

rasing the limit to 20 times the amount of data doesn't help either. The only thing that helps is to ask the client to leave neomail alone

    Edit --->

It helps to remove the clients .neomail directory (or rename it) and rerun the initial webmail usage through Cpanel (as jfall mentioned earlier, thanks!). You would have to copy any message to the new directory though.

I didn't have the problem for a long time (Nick looked at it and said he forwarded it onto the Neomail developers several months ago) and it's just now started to creep up again.

I just checked the account where the neomail processes are running and he was at quota. I've raised it and will see if that stops it temporarily but it'd be nice to have a fix in place permanently.
