never seen this dns error

The zone for the root domain com.br is missing, or could not be read. The ip address will be read from the webserver configuration and a new zone will be created for this subdomain. You cannot add the zone ns1.domain.com.br without passing an ip address! This probably means the dns lookup failed. Add Complete

The dns zone looks fine, named.conf looks good and so does httpd.conf

    I ran:

    /scripts/fixbuggynamed
    /scripts/rebuildnamedconf
    /scripts/fixnamed
    /scripts/fixetchosts
    service named restart

    What else?

    cpanel 10.4 current

Did you ever find out what was causing this?

I manually added the ns1/ns2 entries to the domain's dns zone

Yes but we add the dns zone afterwards the zone does not show in whm under dns zones, so no place to add it

Which version of cPanel are you running? 10.6.0 seems to have had a few teething problems with DNS records: http://changelog.cpanel.net/

If you're running an earlier release of cPanel 10.6.0, then you may want to upgrade to 10.6.0-R16.
