Seems like when we did an update of cpanel to release version from stable, it created a new wwwact script that hangs
We've seen this on CentOS as well as RH7.3

There are security fixes that should be rolled into a Stable release by tomorrow.

If you are on a stable release, you should not have experienced the issue mentioned in this thread. By the time that the security fixes are integrated in the stable release, you should not have to worry about this issue.

Well, we are running 9.9.2-R7 and wwwacct keeps crashing the servers whenever it gets called. It consumes all RAM each time (we see it use 1.4GB of RAM in less than 30 seconds). The wwwacct on all of the servers is timestamped from the early AM today and is 44926 bytes in size. We can't create any new accounts as a result.

    grrrrr

Wanted to transfer a user and its all broke!

package creation failed, but still cPanel's script carried on and made all the directories etc on new server. Don't want to "terminate" the account on the "new" server because Im 99% sure that will delete all the dns zones etc. tried to restore from a backup ... but guess what. "usernme already exists" (surely that means you cant restore from backup?)

Oh well, least the secure is secure!

You need to do the following to blowe away the erroneous account:

    userdel username
    groupdel username
    rm -Rf /home/username

That should then allow you to try copying it again.

We confirmed that the updated wwwacct script from last night wiull not work properly if running cPanel 9.9.2. An upgrade to 9.9.3+ fixes the failure.

This was all on WHM 9.9.3 cPanel 9.9.6-C2 !! both servers were on the same version.

Should i put a ticket in for this then? or a bugzilla?

    edit:

    groupdel username
groupdel: error removing shadow group entry

    Upgrade to latest RELEASE.

    This was fixed:

Why does cpanel always release some buggy software as stable release?
