    hi there,

i try to install cpanel on a new freebsd 4.10 server using the cpanel-universal install script. but badyl i get every time a failure like this:
Ports are out of date.. updating....
    Using package directory: packages-4.10-release
    Package index download failed!
    Using package directory: packages-4.10-release
    Package index download failed!
    FATAL: rsync install failed.

what could be the reason for this error?

I'm having similiar problem- but on a FreeBSD 4.9 install.

I get the same "package index download failed" message. I did some investigation, and the FTP server no long maintains code for 4.9 :(

How do I go about upgrading my kernel to FreeBSD 4.11? Any special considerations for Cpanel? Is there any work around for this problem, if I'd like to stay on 4.9?

in my case i had to install rsync manually. after that, the installation works fine.
