New Exchange Server - A & MX Records

Hi all,

First time using cpanel so apologies for the basic question.

I have installed a new sbs server that will be hosting my clients email. Server is installed but we are currently not able to send or receive any emails. I just wanted to confirm my settings in cpanel.

For a record i have: servers external ip
Mx: mail.domainname.co.uk

Are these all the settings i need in cpanel to be configured & how long does it take for the settings to come into effect?

One option i did notice that is currently configured is ip4. do i need this?

Any info is extremely appreciated!

Without seeing the rest of the zone file it's hard to say. However, I've found these sites very useful in diagnosing problems with mail (and they're free unlike some of the others that require monthly subscription):
