    Hi,

You need to create a group and add both the users ( the cPanel user and the second user)to it. Once you add both the users to the group, assign that group to the directory you want both the user to have access to. Like:

Account created from cPanel as test
    home directory >> /home/test
    permission to test directory 711

New user created from shell as test1
    home directory >> /home/test1
    permission to test1 directory 711

Create a group as testing with the command:
    groupadd testing

Edit the file /etc/group and add both the users to the group 'testing'. The entry should be like:
    testing:x:500:test,test1
    Save and exit.

Assign the group user'testing' to the 'test' (cPanel user) directory.
    cd /home
    chown test.testing test
    and permission as below:
    chmod 771 test

So once the user 'test1'(second user) login to shell, he will be under his home directory i.e. /home/test1 and he can easily travel to 'test' directory and edit files
    cd ../test

If I am worng somewhere please correct me.
