I am trying out WHM/cPanel on a clean install of RedHat Linux 6, and been following the installation guide at Step 6: Install cPanel & WHM (or cPanel DNSONLY).

This is is the error message:
Code:
[20130214.110433] --force passed on command line. Upgrade will disgregard update config settings.
[20130214.110433] E $new_version is not defined! The tier 'edge' appears invalid!

2013-02-14 11:04:33 918 (DEBUG): Detected a failed sync. Re-trying updatenow.static to correct
2013-02-14 11:04:33 924 (FATAL): Unable to sync cpanel. Please verify your network connectivity to httpupdate.cpanel.net and re-run the installer

I am able to connect to httpupdate.cpanel.net via the host or wget commands. Also, the tier 'edge' doesn't seem to matter: I replaced that with release, stable, current in /etc/cpupdate.conf as a troubleshooting measure.

Hello :)

Could you paste the full contents of your /etc/cpupdate.conf file?

Thank you.

I have same exact problem. New cPanel install failed on same step, but httpupdate.cpanel.net is reachable. Month ago I have installed cPanel on same exact server running CentOS 6.4 without any issue.

Any clue?

Thanks

It looks like you opened a support ticket for this issue. Per the ticket, it was determine this was caused by a faulty NAT configuration. There were custom resolvers configured which may have also attributed to the problem.

Thank you.
