Newbie here :) Domain Addon is not working.

Hello all.
Can somone help me. I know there has been post abt this issue before, but i dun see an absolute solution for it.
Can someone be kind enough to post an absolute solution for it?

When i try to setup an domain addon from WHM for my clients, it say...domain already be in use and bla bla bla.....
same error if my client set it himself.

Please assist.

I have send a help ticket to cpanel support and they ask me to delete the dns zone and &Make sure the accounts home directory is gone, and the entry in httpd.conf.&

It will say that if you've already added an account or DNS for the domain to your server. The domain must not be used if you want to set it up as an addon.

On another note, what exactly does the addon feature do? Is it just pointing domain.com to sub.domain.com and allowing them access to an ftp account on sub.domain.com? So if I went to domain.com/test.html it would appear to be on domain.com although it's really loading from sub.domain.com/test.html? Basically allowing a person to use their account's resources for as many domains as they want (and are allowed)?
