Hello Everyone,

Please forgive me.. but.. I feel Clueless right now.. and I tried calling emcwebhosting but they are on Pacific time and I dont want to wait 3 hours to get some help.. I dont think my question is too complicated to answer for you experts out there.

I've just set up Virtual Private Server for my own domain. with emcwebhosting.

I logged in to Cpanel and it started the wizard... It asks me to pick my nameserver and to not name it the same as my dot.com which is:
www.brightweb.com

So.. I renamed it to: power.brightweb.com
Was that Wrong?

Also.. It said for me to set my nameservers.. so I did as follows:
Primary Nameserver: ns1.brightweb.com
Secondary Nameserver: ns2.brightweb.com
Tertiary Nameserver: ns3.brightweb.com (I have no clue what Tertiary means?)
Fourth Nameserver: ns4.brightweb.com
Did I do this wrong too?

Also.. my domain name is currently with:godaddy.com, so.. what will I put for nameserver to point my domain to my server?

Thanks in advance if anyone is willing to help me solve this issue

Sincerely

Jonathan

What you need to do first is to register your name server through godaddy

Go to Domains >> My Domains
Click on your domain you'd like to set up private nameservers for
Click on View/Modify Detail under 'Host Summary' on the bottom left
For "Host Name 1:" you'll input "ns1" (no quotes) in the box
For "Host Name 2:" you'll input "ns2" (no quotes) in the box
For "Host IP 1:" you'll input your primary IP address
For "Host IP 2: you'll enter the same IP as your primary address, except one number higher.(For Example: You received the ip: x.x.x.x when signing up, this would be your primary IP for ns1. For ns2 you would use: x.x.x.x)
Click "OK"

Note that the above mentioned steps is an additional step to register your name server with the registry before it can be used by other domains.

If you only have 2 IPs for name server, leave this two empty
Tertiary Nameserver: ns3.brightweb.com (tertiary means 3rd)
Fourth Nameserver: ns4.brightweb.com
