I am in the process of getting a new license for cpanel. The problem is when cpanel went down, so did my pop and smtp server which was working before cpanel was ever installed. What gives cpanel the right to make those not work and How do I make it work until my new license is ready.

..... I don't understand how exim and cppop could be done if your license is busted.
That isn't how the system works.

/usr/local/cpanel/bin/cppop &
/etc/rc.d/init.d/exim restart
/scripts/fixrelayd &

Run that... see if things improve
It starts pop3 and exim and then restarts syslog.

cpanel license makes or breaks the cpanel and WHManager daemons, not any of the vital services, unless this has changed recently?

Doubtful.

Wild.

I am curious then what all is affected currently, when a license expires or goes invalid..... Darkorb can you shed some light on this? This must be a recent change.

just curious

peace , etc ;)

everything except BIND, APACHE, MySQL as far as I can tell. It's not right to shut down your POP and SMTP considering I had it before I ever had CPanel

its only pop that is dead.. as the pop server is part of cpanel....

Nick is right .. I got it as well today. Only cpanel and POP quit and cppop is Nick's server so it's fair. Hard for me to say that becuase I just got done with a heart attack myself ..but it is fair.

You can always stop the cppop service and integrate a different popper if you lose your license, so at least people can get their email.

I'm not sure what it would take more then an hour to get a new licenese.. Distributors can grant licenses instantly. If something fishy is going on I suggest you let [email protected] know..

I know. The place where I get my server from did not pay their cpanel license fees which left me in the cold. If I didn't get such cheap bandwidth, I would leave. I have about 10 servers.

If you are buying 10 .. you should do an App.. Just ask billing to expidite it for you.
