I have some issues with a script and wanted to check the mysql error log but it is not there.

    I have checked two locations:
    /var/log/mysqld.log
    /var/lib/mysql/(hostname).err

Tried locate for mysql.log but didn't find anything.

Is there another possible location I can look for it?
Or is there another reason for not having log files?

Are other logs (e.g. at /var/log ) on your server updating fine ?

Also are the log files just not there or they are present but not logging any thing ?

In /var/log/ are many files which are updated fine. 11 of them are dated today, the rest is older.

The mysql log files are not there, at the mentioned locations.
