    Hi All,

Last night I assigned a handful of IPs to my WHM installation. It turned out that one of them isn't working for some reason, so I want to remove it. From the documentation it seems that I should be able to go to WHM -> IP Functions -> Show or Delete Current IP Addresses and click a Remove link beside the one I want to remove. However, there is no Remove link beside any of the IPs including the one that is not working and not assigned to anything.

Any ideas how I can get this guy off my system?

    Thanks!

    Jon

They ought to be in /etc/ips however, if they've been configured directly then you might have to toy with the network interface configuration files in /etc/sysconfig/network/

I do see all of them (including the one I want to remove) in /etc/ips.

Is it safe to just delete that one I no longer want from /etc/ips?

    Thanks!

It should be OK to do that, if you haven't already. You'll probably also want to setup the virtual ethernet devices too:

    /etc/init.d/ipaliases restart

I have a similar problem. Im removing another ip from the server and the ip seems to be shown being used but I dont have any account using it. Is it going to be the same procedure?

the file in /etc/ips only show me the ip address Im going to remove and not the other one, is that normal?

The /etc/ips contains all the additional IPs added on your server via WHM. If you want to remove a specific IP from WHM, you need to make sure it is not assigned to any of the domain. Even if it is not assigned, there must be some entry left over in any of the users file which is why WHM won't allow you to remove the IP.

However, you can edit the file /etc/ips, remove the IP entry from it and restart the ipaliases service
