If you are fluent in ssh, then just use the rename command. If you are not fluent with ssh, please do not attempt to do this yourself.
YES I DID

=cPanelDavidG;If you rename the package file, don't forget to ensure the accounts that were using this package are now using this renamed package.

Usually that is why you edit the package, not rename it. After renaming the package, you need to assign the new package to the desired accounts since the name was changed on the old package.

Correct, that is what I meant by "don't forget to ensure the accounts that were using this package are now using this renamed package." I apologize for the ambiguity of that statement. There is nothing in your OS that tells cPanel/WHM to change the assigned package for an account once you rename the package.

Solution

Yes we can rename the hosting packages from shell as well as reassign package from shell by using simple script available at Rename package on cpanel server. | Linux Servers cPanel webhosting blog

If your current package is used by large number of users than you can use above script but if only one or two users are using packages than its always good to reassign package from WHM.
