nobody httpd process

    we just migrated our server to a new machine

    cPanel 11.24.5-S38506 - WHM 11.24.2 - X 3.9
    REDHAT Enterprise 5.4 i686 standard on cp100

    When we run top, instead of showing process name of http it shows nobody

    Apache usually run under the username nobody . Security problem arises if PHP scripts are being executed as nobody . If you have suPHP, you should notice PHP processes are under the user and httpd are under nobody.

    Howdy,

    There should be one httpd process running as root, that's the real process, the rest are children of that process. Looking at your post, there isn't anything wrong. You might tweak the number of children started at idle but that's about it.
