I have cPanel server running 68.0.21 which has both local backups and an additional destination that is an FTP server.

I noticed today that out of 74 local backups, I only have 28 on the FTP server.

I checked both the backup log in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup and /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup_transporter and I don't see any error messages.

I see for example the following in the backup log

pkgacctfile is: /home/backup/weekly/2017-12-22/accounts/ukweb.tar.gz
[2017-12-22 03:26:43 -0700] info [backup] Queuing weekly backup copy of “ukweb” for transport of “/home/backup/weekly/2017-12-22/accounts/ukweb.tar.gz” to “weekly/2017-12-22/accounts/ukweb.tar.gz”
[2017-12-22 03:31:45 -0700] info [backup] Queuing transport of file: /home/backup/weekly/2017-12-22/accounts/ukweb.tar.gz
[2017-12-22 03:31:48 -0700] info [backup] Queuing transport of file: /home/backup/weekly/2017-12-22/accounts/ukweb-=-meta

However it is not present on the FTP server. Besides those two logs where else would I look to see why this failed?

Hi Eric,

The information you provided suggests backups are already enabled for your accounts (the usernames appear in the logs), however it's still a good idea to first verify that backups are enabled for all accounts via "WHM >> Backups >> Backup User Selection".

Also, if you see no error messages related to these accounts in the backup logs, check to make sure there are no settings or scripts on the remote backup destination that are deleting the backups. For instance, if you force a backup generation using "/usr/local/cpanel/bin/backup --force", do you see initially see the backup files for these accounts on the remote destination?

Thank you.

All of the users are Enabled in the Backup User Selection. As I mentioned, I see local copies of the backup just not remote.

There are no scripts on the remote to remove backups. I just setup this FTP server and this is the initial backup which I ran with the --force on the backup script.

Anything else to check or just wait till the next backup cycle and see if the same thing happens?

Hello,

If the issue persists, and the transporter logs in the /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup_transporter/ directory show no errors, feel free to open a support ticket using the link in my signature so we can take a closer look.

Thank you.
