Has anyone else seen nobody apache processes that appear like this:
    [host <defunct>]

I can link them up to the parent process, but they are for many different users for items as benign as jpegs, so it appears to be a system issue.

The server in question did fall victim to the bad cpan on 12/28, and we've been seeing these processes as well as a slight elevation in load over normal since that time. Apache has been rebuilt, perl and cpan updates were successful after the replacements came out, etc.

Any ideas or previous encounters with this?

    Thanks!
