    Greetings!

There is one domain that we are having problems receiving email from, and the domain we host is the only domain they have problems sending to. The exact error is:

    2006-08-22 00:05:06 H=mail.multiline.com.au [203.5.127.26] sender verify fail for <email@multiline.com.au>: response to "RCPT TO:<email@multiline.com.au>" from mail.multiline.com.au [203.5.127.26] was: 550 Rejected as SPAM source.
    2006-08-22 00:05:06 H=mail.multiline.com.au [203.5.127.26] F=<email@multiline.com.au> rejected RCPT <email@goldencity.com.au>: Sender verify failed
    2006-08-22 00:53:36 H=mail.multiline.com.au [203.5.127.26] sender verify fail for <email@multiline.com.au>
    2006-08-22 00:53:36 H=mail.multiline.com.au [203.5.127.26] F=<email@multiline.com.au> rejected RCPT <email@goldencity.com.au>: Sender verify failed

Ordinarily, I would simply say that email@mutliline.com.au doesn't exist, however, through communication with our client, it does, as does email@goldencity.com.au. multiline.com.au doesn't appear to be in any spamlists. Any ideas?

    A record problem

    Check DNS Zone file ...

There is no A record entry for multiline.com.au domain name.

    :)

Thanks, although I would like to elaborate a bit further.

The original problem was not the multiline.com.au domain, but the bksetts.com domain, which uses the multiline.com.au mailservers. The person emailing from bksetts.com (and also multiline.com.au) only has problems with our server - if it were the A record was missing, wouldn't everyone have a problem with accepting email from multiline.com.au?

The problem is that email is coming from multiline.com.au but the sender verification check is failing because multiline.com.au is claiming that your server is a spam source. Only someone responsible for multiline.com.au can explain why that is.
