OpenVZ VPS installation problem

Hi everyone;

I'm trying to install cPanel into an OpenVZ VPS on a standard CentOS 5 template. After the installation is done everything looks normal but the VPS is always up and down. it is up for 2 minutes and down 2 minutes and so on. I tried also rebooting the VPS with no result.

Any idea of what can be causing this problem?

What "goes down". We have run openvz on many different machines and never have had any problems with it.

Is the network failing?
Is it the openvz itself dies?

What is the physical node / dom0 doing while your openvz has problems?

It's not the entire node to go down, only the VPS goes down or at least it is not reachable through web browser.

So just apache, or ssh and other services as well? Does it still ping?

Have you checked any error logs?


Without some more information it is hard to try and troubleshoot the problem.

When the VPS is up also SSH works. When it goes down SSH doenst work.

When the VPS is up also SSH works. When it goes down SSH doenst work, but ping works.

Quickly scanning I don't see anything bad, do you have the timestamp of when ssh went down?

This has been fixed, the issue was due to the fact that there were 2 VPS's using the same IP so sometimes one was responding and sometimes the other one was responding.

I migrated the VPS to a new node some time ago but being the nodes both old and new one in the same rack the IPs are routed to both at the same time. The client booted the VPS on the old node and that's what created the problem, both servers were on the same address but one had cPanel and the other didnt have.
