We are moving from Alabanza - which uses OpenWebmail - which is mbox

We are going to Liquidweb which uses Horne Mail -

When we migrate using the WHM migration tool it works great except it does not bring over ALL the folders for OpenWebmail. It brings over the Inbox but not the rest of the standard folders or user created webmail folders.

It should bring over at least:

    Inbox
    Saved
    Sent
    Draft
    Trash
    Spam
    Virus

    Does anyone know the following:

    1. How to migrate over so that ALL the OpenWebmail folders are brought over?

    OR

    2. How we can get the OpenWebmail folders manually into the Horde Email system?

    Thank you for your time.

OpenWebmail is based off NeoMail which cPanel/WHM supports on systems still running mbox (strongly discouraged, all servers should be on maildir at this time).

One trick I've seen on the forums is to move the mbox files over to the cPanel server (in their appropriate locations) and then run the mbox to maildir conversion tool (/scripts/convert2maildir via SSH as root). Not exactly our recommended means of migrating mail, but it works for some. You may want to try it on 1 account first to ensure it works before going through the trouble of doing this for all the mail accounts.

    Where would the folders be?

    Thank you,

Do you know where the folders are located in OpenWebmail?

Alabanza systems store webmail files in:

    /home/username/domain-webmail/

If you open that folder for any of your accounts, you'll see folders for each mail user (plus a hidden sessions folder). Each mail user folder contains flat files that store your saved mail.

If you download those folders manually (from within OpenWebmail), you will get a zipped mbox file. Unzip the file, and you can import it into Horde. PM me if you need a hand or would like detailed steps. I'm pretty sure we have something written up for our customers that I could send along.

Worth noting that your original post doesn't mention the address book. Email's one thing -- we've had more complaints about missing address book entries than anything else. Edit: the address book export from OpenWebmail is a zipped VCF file. This can be unzipped and imported to Horde as well.

How to run the convert script

I downloaded all the files from ALA and then uploaded them into the new server on Liquidweb.

Then went to the scripts folder and ran the command and got this:

    root@host [/scripts]# convert2maildir
    -bash: convert2maildir: command not found

So, what am I suppose to do - can you baby step me?

    Thanks

How do you download from within OpenWebmail

How do you download folders and address book from within openwebmail?

We logged into the account and could not find a way to do this.

    Faster Way of Importing Email

Ok, I figured out how to do this:

Export Openweb Folder/Messages while in OPenWebmail

Import Folder/Messages in to HORDE while in Horde

Issue: To do this I had to log in to each account - a killer with over 200 clients PLUS we would have no clue what most of their passwords are.

So, is there a way to get the folders and import them into HORDE without Logging into OpenWebmail and HORDE...

    To include Address Book...

    Thanks
