I will be moving from another provider and moving my clients with me.

They are so use to OpenWebmail that we would like to keep it.

    http://www.openwebmail.org/

But not sure if we can -

    1. Can Cpanel work with OpenWebmail?

    2. Will email accounts created in Cpanel create the accounts so OpenWebmail knows they are there - I may be wording this wrong - but basically - if an email account is created in Cpanel - can they use OpenWebmail to check it?

    Thank you.

Looks like OpenWebmail is based on NeoMail. NeoMail does not support maildir format so if OpenWebmail doesn't support maildir format as well, it will not work with new cPanel installs.

    Cpanel and OpenWebmail

OpenWebmail use to be part of Cpanel in the past.

So, I am not sure of why you are saying it will not work.

All I need to do is somehow get the email accounts that are created in cPanel to get placed in OpenWebmail.

you can install and use this, if you convert the system back from maildir to mbox, which will allow you to use neomail and openwebmail.

There's a cPanel script that also handles mbox to maildir conversions and back:

    /scripts/convert2maildir

You can convert from maildir back to mbox using the script as well, although I wouldn't recommend doing this since maildir is the supported format for mail now.

It seems it would be easier to find another webmail option that would not require the mbox format or simply using one of the existing webmail applications we already provide.

Hi, I too really want Open WebMail, if for only 1 fact, I would like Clients to have a "Outlook" connection, similar to Exchange server. This is the key driving force. If this was integrated, it would be fantastic.

I can see Open WebMail and CPanel running side by side would be an issue. Do you have an alternative? Can you give more feed back as to how you think this can be deployed?
